Touch Therapies
Introduction to the USA
Another major influence on the practice of touch therapy in the United States has been the influx of ideas from Asia, where hands on healing dates back thousands of years. The principles underlying acupressure, for instance can be found in the occultic text, "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine", an apprehensive text of traditional Chinese medicine that records practices to be more than 4000 years old.
The introduction of Eastern medical practices to the United States can be traced to President Richard Nixon's visit to China in 1972. During the trip James Reston, a writer for the New York Times, and member of the presidential press corps, fell ill with appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery. Acupuncture afforded him great relief from the resulting pain, and his experience became famous after he described it in an article. Nixon organized and educational exchange Chinese and U. S. medical practitioners and acupuncture achieved a high profile in this country. While they have remained lesser-known, acupressure, shiatsu, and Ayurvedic massage have ridden the coattails of acupuncture and grown in popularity.
Touch therapies have only recently been introduced into American culture but their influence is pervasive and growing. Understanding the roots of toxic touch therapies helps us better understand how the Enemy of our sould works and learn how to more effectively combat him. The Apostle Paul warns us to not be ignorant of Satatn's schemes but to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:12).

Therapeutic Touch
What You Should Expect On Your First Visit
Since many of us have not knowingly been exposed to a Therapeutic Touch session we should take a look at what happens during the encounter so that we are aware of what is happening if we are confronted by a practitioner and so we can educate those around us to protect them from Satan's schemes. The following is a synopsis of a Therapeutic Touch session.
Before the session begins, you will be asked to sit or lie down. No undressing is necessary. Sessions can be broken down into four steps:
(1) Centering -- the therapist becomes "centered" by using breathing, imagery, and meditation to achieve an altered state of consciousness for themselves.
(2) Assessment -- the therapist holds their hands 2 - 4 inches away from your body while moving from your head to your feet. This is done to assess the energy field surrounding your body. Therapists often describe feelings of warmth, coolness, static, and tingling over the areas of energy "congestion" or "blockage."
(3) Intervention -- once a congested or blocked area is located, the therapist will move their hands in a rhythmic motion, starting at the top of the blocked area and moving down and away from your body. This action, known as unruffling, is repeated until the therapist no longer senses congestion or until you begin to sense relief. The therapist will also visualize and transmit life energy to specific areas of your body, also intended to correct imbalances.
(4) Evaluation/Closure-- once you've had a few minutes to relax, the therapist will ask you how you feel. The therapist may recheck your energy field to be sure that no blockages were overlooked.
It all sounds simple until your therapist, if willing, begins to tell you what she believes is taking place spiritually while performing Therapeutic Touch. Centering is another name for entering a trans-medium state. Assessment is contacting their spirit guide for information concerning your illness.Intervention is practicing Clairsentience or gaining paranormal insight through touch. Closure is bringing the trans-medium out of their trance and ending the session. All of these are practices of Spiritism. Beware of anyone offering to perform Therapeutic Touch to you or a family member. By accepting, you could very well be opening yourself up to the occult.

Experimenting with the Occult
Giving Satan a Foothold
One of the chief aims of any military confrontation is not to give the enemy a foothold where he can freely attack you. The Apostle Paul states that this same this is true about the spiritual battle we are engaged in as Christians. In Ephesians 4:26-28 Paul writes, "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil." (KJV) The New International Version translates verse 27 in this manner, "and do not give the devil a foothold." The context that Paul is talking about in these verses is in regard to dealing with anger. Paul warns that failing to deal with our anger in a Christ-like way gives Satan a "foothold" from which he can attack us. It gives him a spiritual advantage over us allowing him to effectively attack us and even infiltrate our lives.
This principal of "giving Satan a foothold" in our lives applies to many different areas of our lives. One of those areas where we can give Satan a very dangerous foothold in our lives is in the area of the occult. How many Christians are actively pursuing occult related activities and not even thinking twice about it. Multiple thousands of Christians are watching television shows and movies based on paranormal themes and activities. Many Christians are caught up in role playing games like "Dungeons and Dragons" and in hundreds of video games centered in incantations, wizards and warlock, spells and magic. Few of us realize when we casually read the daily horoscope that we are attempting to learn the future outside of God's venue. This is an extreme example but something as simply as getting hooked on reading fortune cookies is spiritually dangerous once we realize that it is based on Confucianism an off-shoot of Buddhism. Then again, a number of us have opened doorways to the occult by "innocently" experimenting with Ouija boards.
We may wonder why we suffer from recurring nightmares, struggle with addictions and bondages in our lives or even have frightening paranormal experiences that plague us. Perhaps its because we have "given Satan a foothold". We must take back what we have given away. We must put into effect what Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:12-17 and "put on the whole armor of God". For any action we have taken that we were aware was experimenting with the occult, we must repent and ask God for His forgiveness which He bestows freely through Christ Jesus. God wants to set you free today. He will deliver you from the "foothold" of the enemy. "Greater is He who is in you that he that is in the world". We must remember that, rely on it and believe it. Freedom from the occult is your today as you claim it through the name and shed blood of Jesus. Be set free . . . in the name of Jesus. Remember, that Jesus said, "He whom the Son sets free is free indeed." (John 8:36)

Synchretism
Mixed Up Christianity
Most people have probably never heard of the word "synchretism" before but it is an important word in our understanding of the penetration of the occult into our culture. Synchretism refers to the practice of "mixing one religion with another". Israel was guilty of this over and over again in the Old Testament. From generation to genreation theyr mixed the worship of Jehovah with the religions of those nations around them and their false gods. They mixed the worhip of the one true God with Baal worship, the worship of Asteroth and Molech. God always punished Israel for mixing His worship with that of any other God. He constantly reminded His people that these gods, "were no gods at all." Eventually, when His people did not repent of their sin, judgment was visited upon them and they were exiled from the land by an ungodly neighboring country.
Synchretism is practiced widely today among many Christians. Many Christians favor playing with Ouija Boards, playing games like "Dungeons and Dragons" and watching a host of television on movie shows that deleve into the occfult. Beyond this, I have talked with Christians who actually, augment their ministry in Christ by practcing Reiki and Healing Touch in combination with prayer and the laying on of hands. Mixing Christianity with any other faith is like mixing "oil and water" -- the two just do not mix. The apostle Paul wrote in Galatians that "although we or even an angel from heaven preach to you another gospel, let him be annathaema" or accursed. God does not look favorably upon synchretism. He wants us to be sold out 100% to Christ. He will not share His glory with another.
As Christians, we need to check our practises and motives making sure that we are on track with Christ. Its in Christ alone that we have been save; its in Christ alone that we are saved and its in Christ alone that we will be saved for eternity. God doesn't want us to mix up the facts. God doesn't want us mixing anything up with the worship that He so richly deserves. Today, if you have examined your life and have found yourself mixing other practices with your Christian life, simply repent. God doesn't want us to walk around feeling condemned, ineffective for Him. God just wants a clean heart, sold out 100% to Jesus Christ. This not only brings Him joy, but we will experience joy too!

Alternative Medicine
Biblical View Point
The clearest way to show people how God feels about alternative medical practices is to show them from the Word of God. We must answer their questions by examining what the Bible say about pseudo-medical interventions that are nothing more than a veneer used to cover the use of the occult practices in healing . Lets take a look at what the Bible says:
1. Scripture declares that the only spirit that Christians are to have contact with is the Spirit of God.
2. The Bible indicates there are a host of spiritual forces, (fallen angels or demons) that work to keep this world under Satanic influence (eg. Eph. 6:11-12, 1 Cor. 10:19-20; 1 John 5:19) In the Old Testament there are many examples of false prophets performing the miraculous (Ex. 12 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.)
3. Such practices were an abomination to God and practitioners were to be put to death ( Deut. 13:5-13).
4. Energy or what is described as bio-energy is not a pseudo-natural energy, electromagnetic energy, a mystical form of energy encased in the body and it is not energy (dunamis), the power of God. All energetic phenomena without scientific explanation are supernatural, occultic energies. The Hindus call in prana; Hawaiians, mana; Chinese, Chi; and Christian Science Mesmer. ( 2. Thess. 2:7-9 “Even of him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,”).
